Are you interested in showing your Highlands at the 2026 AHCS National Show in Bathurst?
Now is the time to begin preparing!

This webinar is designed to walk you through the essential basics so you feel confident, informed, and ready to get started.

The 2026 AHCS National Show is shaping up to be a fantastic event, and we want all our members to feel equipped and comfortable bringing their Highland cattle along.

In this session, we’ll cover:

  • Selecting the right animals for showing

  • Basic training and handling

  • Feeding and preparation

  • Equipment you’ll need

  • What to expect at your first show

Equipment Checklist:

  • Tack: rope halter or hackamore and lead, nosegrip and lead, neck tie

  • Paperwork: NVD, entry forms, shed cards etc

  • Pitchfork, broom, wheelbarrow

  • Feed and water: hay + feed, buckets

  • Washing and grooming: hose and connectors (optional: foamers), shampoo, conditioner, plastic curry comb, steel comb, blower (borrow!)

  • Show day: AHCS uniform, dress jeans, boots, hat, show cane, leather show halter, lead, leather conditioner

  • Miscellaneous: extension power cords, cable ties, bulldog clips, (electricals tested and tagged!)

  • A helper for you!
